Gallery

This is a small collection of my favourite pictures. Most of them were taken by accident, so don't ask me what F number or shutter speed it was, I vaguely remember when I took them. I bought a Cosina manual in 1980, and have used varying combinations of 50mm, 28mm, 24mm, 80 to 210mm zoom, 300mm and a tripler. My favourite subjects have been sunsets, cat's, scenery, night time extended exposure and occasional people. I don't claim to be photographer, but an ex Boltonian has a wonderful webpage of images at http://www.gallery-of-photography.com/.

Just a reminder that the pictures are copyright (C), all negatives and originals are owned by me, and you may not use these pictures anywhere else without my express permission.

[sunset through a tree]

33k GIF, 268k JPEG circa 1985

This is taken at around 300mm. The sun is setting over Wigan.

[large sunset]

24k GIF, 166k JPEG circa 1985

This is taken at 900mm. The sun is setting over Wigan, chimney pots silhouetted against the horizon.

[sunrise over a lake]

20k GIF, 176k JPEG December 1994

One morning I happened to have my camera with me, I stopped by the side of the road to take a series of sunrise pictures.

[lights]

36k GIF, 359k JPEG September 1984

Blackpool Illuminations. By the side of the tower a pedestrian bridge runs over the coast road. You can see green laser flashes, this picture is taken facing north.

[night scene over a canal]

37k GIF, 385k JPEG March 1995

Amsterdam in March 1995. This canal runs through the red light district.

[sunset over a hazy land]

16k GIF, 82k JPEG circa 1983

Another picture with the sun setting over Wigan.

[the sun has set over Miami Airport]

19k GIF, 215k JPEG March 1994

The sun, sunk below the horizon, over Miami Airport, taken from the top of the MIA hotel. If you download the JPEG version, you should be able to make out the constellation of Orion in the top right hand corner.

[white streak in a blue sky]

14k GIF, 77k JPEG March 1997

This is the comet something or other which passed close to Earth March/April 1997. The JPEG version should show the star trails due to the extended time exposure and narrow field of view.

[Mersey
sunset]

89k JPEG August 1996

A fluke shot, taken after throwing chips into the air, seagulls swooping to catch them as the sun set.
