As a MANUAL web author, my goal was to make web pages viewable by all web browsers, be they text only, or fancy graphical. I have discovered that netscrapie has not only gone away to invent it's own rules, but does not bother sticking to those already laid down, a bit like cc:mail being NON RFC-822 compliant.
One of the most RIDICULOUS things I saw, was a message "please set your browser width to... and a line. What planet are those people from?
Other totally stupid and pointless things I have seen on a page is "Click here for a text only version" or "Noframes version". Can't these people understand that the whole point of HTML is it can adapt to different display systems, text only, non framed or limited colours. These people need to go back to school.
It's a pity that the netcrud lovers are turned on by flashing lights. With any luck, someone will write a really nasty virus in java which will kill whatever the machine is running this bad program.
The GIF display is SHITE. I've seen a better rendition drawn by my 3 year old niece. (Actually the OpenVMS X-Windows version isn't too bad. I suppose if you run it on a decent platform it'll behave itself more).
The memory manufacturers of the world are in collaboration with the software developers, and nowhere is this more true than of this browser.
Java is very very very dangerous. There is no such thing as pc security.
microsoft-as-shite's internet explorer is no better. Speaking of a lack of security, it has a number of back doors for Mr. Gates employees to snoop on what's on your pc.
However, if you are reading this quite normally, you're using a PROPER browser, congratulations. Using the stupid black-on-black method that the above mentioned software uses, all of this text is invisible. Maybe they'll spend a little while figuring out how to override the settings (which can be done) and then they'll see this mass of abuse. Ha!
My biggest objection is the monopolization of the x86 processor by Micro$oft, which cannot even write quality software or operating systems. Where do you want to go today..? If it was up your ass you'd know it! You can hear bgInc. almost any day; singing shovez, shovez, shovez-vous? The Internet is not a valid Win32 application, bill... Boycott bg shoveware!
Here's an extract of a recent (late 1998) report on web platform access: METRICS______________________________________________________ ______________________WHAT PLATFORMS ARE YOUR VISITORS USING? And to conclude, it's not so much a matter of where do you want to go today, so much as where will you be forced to go tomorrow. But, to give VMS it's due, there's a 90% likelihood that the very CPU chip you're using was fabricated on a plant, run by VMS. Hey, chip manufacturers may dupe you, but they're not stupid when it comes to reliability.
